Blanket Woman
Although this is a pretty normal picture, the woman gave this photo a Madonna feel. I had taken many pictures that day. I had taken pictures of the normal life that a person may find in the streets of the Baños de Agua Santa, Tungurahua, Ecuador. I particularly focus on the "typico" of what you would see. I like to take photos of the culture, the "costumes", normal life without much editing. I don't like staged photos. I prefer to take natural photos that luck lets me have.
When it gets hot outside and people don't want to carry their blankets (if it had previously been a cold day) and the sun starts to shine, women can be seen carrying the blankets on their heads and they will also use them like shade hats. It just so happened that this woman, possed perfectly for the camera. She had arranged her blanket in the most comfortable way for her on her head. Comfort was the important thing. I had taken many shots of many people and I didn't realize that this woman's photo would give this kind of feel or special shot. Sometimes it is luck and patience and you can get magic.
This painting is on A3 Derwent water colour paper for water colour pencils, and Winsor and Newton water colour markers, Letraset Aqua markers, black Rotring drawing ink (fountain pen) and Unibal signo white gel pen.
