There is a woman who lives in my town in Ecuador.  She is a woman of few words but incredible kindness.  She works pushing carts to deliver things to your house.  I met her in the mercado where I buy my fruits and vegies on Sunday.  Every time I see her, her face lights up and she shares her electric contagious smile.  We communicate mostly by mostly facial gestures and hand movements, but we connect and share more importantly a laugh or two.  I dare you to communicate this way and I am sure you will find a whole new part of yourself, a natural joy a way to get to the heart of the matter without all the fluff of convention and social expectancy that we get caught up in with our busy vocal cords.

I know that this person has had a very hard life and yet she has pared it down to what is important.  I think for her although she has to work hard, and carry on , she always takes time to love, to smile.  I don't do this as often as I should and I don't laugh as often as I should but she makes sure to remind me to do that.  She keeps me in check with what is really important.   ......  I am also sure that she does not see this a something that she is on purposely doing, it comes naturally to her.  I need to do this also, make it an unconscious action, to smile laugh, spread joy and live in the moment.

I am not a portrait artist but I just wanted to give this a valiant effort to try and capture what she gives to me, a brilliant smile of acceptance and heartfelt caring.  There are so few people who can do this, lighten up another persons soul but just a smile.  How do you capture that effervescence?  How to you put in two dimensions the energy and je ne se quois?  Well this is my effort.  I only wish that you will experience such a soul.

Talk with you all soon,
Robin
