Well, mama Tungurahua emitted the other day and we had a combination of white ash and black. The black ash is not really a problem as it is bigger particles that quickly fall to the ground, however it is the white ash that is a huge problem. These particles are more that the black ash has vaporized and you now have minute bits of glass in the air that you can breath in. Imagine it much like asbestos-is. The volcano can emit for several days or what ever she wished, who is going to argue with a volcano. This time it was only for a couple of days and a light rain and wind brings everything down. We were house bound for a day or 2, though we still have to wash everything down outside. We have had that there were "white out" conditions with the white ash but that was not this time.
