Welcome to the Happy Infectious Faces Project.
The Idea
How can I help people as an artist???
I believe art can change the health and well being of others.

I can make art that is designed to bring smiles, maybe giggles, and full on laughter.
(shhhh, happiness and laughter are good for you and we can make it contagious)

You see when you  are feeling low, and stressful,
emotional and biological things happen that are not good for you like make you sick and vulnerable.

When you are happy, and laughing, emotional and biological things happen too,
and these can make you feel better and make you healthier and stronger.

(I found out about this from Norman Cousins.  He wrote about laughing yourself to health.
He got into research into health and happiness and biological and emotional effects.
And now there is a ton on research about it.

Look it up it is fascinating. )

The Science!!!
So here are some of the positive reactions to happiness, and laughter:
Endorphins, and other happy hormones are released:
causing pain relief and higher pain tolerance, increased immune system, lower blood pressure,
stress relief (relaxing and reduces affects of stress), better relationships, easier to solve problems and
helping to increase social bonds, and a hit of youthfulness and so much more!

The anatomical benefits are cardiovascular exercise and increased function of that whole system
and other organs in your body.
Yes, the heart, lungs, rib muscles, abdominal muscles and other body parts get exercised and get healthier,
just like going for a run in the park, only happier and a heck of a lot more fun.

Did you know that happiness and laughter is infectious, in the best way possible....?
When one person laughs other people can't help themselves but to laugh too.
Interesting, eh?

The Statement!!!
So after all the emotional and physical distress caused by health issues like corona virus, plus economic stresses,
I thought that maybe together, we can create with art, a happy virus.

Here's the plan
I asked people in social media sites (mostly Facebook) to voluntarily send me their faces to paint
with the goal to make other people to laugh.
And boy, did they do that will such enthusiasm!!!
And I am keeping my promise,
I am painting their goofiest and happiest faces with watercolors on 14 x 21cm card.

The ONE rule
When we were children we would laugh 200+- times a day, and when you get older, not so much.
When we were kids, we would have games with each other to try and make each other to laugh.
We often couldn't help ourselves but to laugh too....
This was my theme for their photos/selfies,
my one and only ask from the participants.

Make faces that make their friends, family and me laugh and I will paint them, for free!
I am a bit selfish too, because, and I get to laugh and giggle too.

When I have completed the painting
I post them on social media sites to get people to be exposed to a
Happy Virus

I want to spread this new happiness and goofiness virus and keep it going.
I want the participants to be part of the virus spreading too,
so I send a digital copy of the painting to that participant to use how ever they feel,

with the hopes that they will find ways
to use their own painting to bring and spread the fun and wealth of health
to their friends and family.

The Final Goal !!!
make other people laugh, and spread happy giggly healthy well being.
Make an art project healing with goofiness, giggling and laughter like a virus!

I hope that you go out there in your day
and spread the happy, goofy, and silliness around,
see this project and get inspired to do that.

Now go out there and spread hilarity and happiness and make people laugh,
it will be good for them and for you!!!
And if they ask,
you now know that science says laugh for health's sake!!!
