When walking around in this wee town of Banos Tungurahua, Ecuador, my home, I found yet another "Unforgettable Face". (re: my Unforgettable Faces Project). There is such an abundance of wonderful people here, or is it that I am just so happy to see with eyes of wonder? After all, you can either be happy where ever you are or sad and that changes how you look at everything around you. You follow yourself where ever you go including your perspective.

I look at their faces and wonder: what is their story?, what have they witnessed?, whom do they love?.

I used to walk around with my partner, when we had just started dating, in Canada and I would have to just stop and say," What an amazing face or Aren't they beautiful/handsome." He used to think I was talking about a man and think he would have to have a talk with me about jealousy, until he looked at the face I was referring to, and then just sigh, and realize the situation. Ahhh, she is looking through with the eyes of appreciation. Soon he was doing the same thing. This perspective is delightfully contagious.

Here, in Ecuador, I look with my camera, my artistic eye and my heart. I just hope that I can get a good portion of these paintings to their owners. I hope that they can look at themselves and see what I see. That everyone has an Unforgettable Faces and then start to look at others with an appreciation filter.

When you look with that perspective, it puts your brain in a different place. I prefer to look with gratitude and appreciation, and just a little bit of admiration.

If your face is the map of your life what do you want your face to show.

Canson multi media paper/300 g/m2, Reeves gesso, (collage:wrapping paper, music paper, my coloring book, old book page), Dr. PH Martin hydrus paint, signo white gel pen, Windsor and Newton watercolor markers, Rotring technical pen and drawing ink.

Here is part of the 52 week Illustration challenge. WEEK 4: ODE TO FAVOURITE CHILDREN'S BOOK
I miss the days when the kids were little, but now reminiscing about our Canada lives into our Ecuador lives, it is fun to go into the challenge and play.

But boy oh boy, do you need to create some of your own supplies, have ways to bolster the supplies that are here, have brought supplies with you, or carefully buy in stores that sells good supplies. It is all a part of adapting to the new country you live in and still create art. It is all a part of learning to live here joyfully.
This was one of my favourite book to read to the kids when they were little. I hope that I did it justice... This was made on A3 paper, Canson multi media, slathered in Homemade gesso, Derwent inktense blocks, signo white gel pen, and wonderful better than the throwaway fineliners: Rotring technical pens and drawing ink.

This painting is simply called yellow and blue bird. Yes, I was in the Banos Tungurahua Ecuador, church park.... again. There was this wonderful woman in the park enjoying the day (New Years Day).I love her wistful visage and the amazing colors of her face with the reflective light. This is how I feel in looking forward into the new year. I have lots to do and learn. Lots of computer stuff to learn, and painting techniques, plus doing the 52 week illustration challenge. I am not sure if it will be pain, passion, loving or amazing, we will see.
Just another amazing face in Ecuador. The Ecuadorian people are just so beautiful and they age with such character.
I just started the 52 week illustration challenge, so this is meeting this need and also my "Unforgettable Faces Project. This painting is not yet loaded onto my web page on the project but maybe today or tomorrow.
A4 paper, windsor and newton water color markers, black fountain pen, ph martin hydrus paint, white gel pen, cut outs from my coloring book (I made the coloring book so there are no copy right infringements).
I have to say that the windsor and newton markers are challenging but the results are so amazing. They are well worth the effort to learn. I am a bit of a chicken as these watercolor markers challenge me and I start procrastinating like cleaning up my studio to avoid my insecurity. But again the results are so worth it. LOVE LOVE LOVE windsor and newton watercolor markers.
