Woman in Red Sweater

I am missing my home. It is snowing and cold outside. It is pretty but still it is cold. At home, which is now Ecuador, it is summer. I am in Canada right now, and one of the benefits of Canada is you can get all kind of art supplies. It is a good thing, I am into art supplies and not clothes. What is in the second hand stores for art supplies is amazing to choose from. The art supplies stores are amazing here. I love the smell of a well stocked art supplies store. There is nothing like it.
So with a little home sickness, I painted this painting of a woman in a red sweater, in typical clothes of the town of Aluasi. This woman reminds me a bit of my grandmother from Holland, but I have to say she only wore tres chic clothes, but she had the same kind of attitude and grace of this lady.
It was a warm market day, and we were just walking around looking at all the fresh produce and liveliness of the crowd. The music was blaring and so much activity of bartering and buying. It was great. These are some of my wonderful memories of Ecuador.
This painting was created on A4 Canson multimedia paper, home made gesso, winsor and newton water color markers, Mister Clean magic eraser,Qor watercolor for back ground (look at that amazing color!). Qor is my new play thing, I will be starting to play with that soon and see how that works out. This photo is from my personal reference of photos.

Beads and Shadow

I wish to give credit where credit is due. I have been using excuse in the book to not finish this very complicated piece of art. After watching an artist online: Jame Luke Burke, I realized I need to move forward. So this is my first step. Just get the work done. Check out his work, he is a multi-media artist that just gets out there and does his thing, love it. Especially if you are an art journaller, his videos might be great for you. They were for me!

This is a second photo I took of a woman at the market in Aluasi in Ecuador. The first one I used colored pencil. I am so in love with these photos, I just had to do a different photo angle and then do it in my Winsor and Newton colored markers, (my infamous love hate relationship with them) I love the shadow and the bead work. But I love so much about this painting, it is the color, the bead work the customs and the people there also. I love the genuine people and so much more. Auggg, not to have all the words I wish were at my fingers to express this. So....., I won't. I will let you the viewer go there for yourself.

This is my typical A4 Canson Multimedia paper,Winsor and Newton watercolor markers and gesso. Normally, I use more multimedia but as I am not at home with all my supplies, this was it. I have bought some new supplies here and will be playing with them until my partner and I go home.

Holy Cow

Holy Cow, I just went into my camera to check on some old photos and found even more paintings from my "Unforgettable Faces Project". Now in total that was added to the web site 11. I will still have to go back and edit some of the text to go with the photos but I had so much fun bringing it up to date.

I am now working on a painting with a woman from the market of Alausi. She has a ton of wonderful colorful beads, that each will need time to make it happen. Such a great meditation after such medical drama.
