Anyway, I am struggling with my Unforgettable faces, I can't decide between these ladies from a Banos parade. I would love your comments to see which one you would love to see first.
hi there : when i create the Unforgettable Faces Project. I like to honor the later portion of life... If youth is only 1/8th to 1/4 of our life why isn't the rest of this time acknowledged with the same intensity and desire for photos and paintings and such. So if you all have been wondering why I do the older age groups you now know why. I figure the fashion mag. focus on the earlier parts of life more than enough for everyone.
Anyway, I am struggling with my Unforgettable faces, I can't decide between these ladies from a Banos parade. I would love your comments to see which one you would love to see first.

and now for something completely different.... this was from inktober this year. I love this saying and it goes so well with this picture. Never try to teach a pig to sing, it wastes your time and annoys the pig.
water colour philosophy, this quote came from I don't know where but I find that some of the ideas can propel your art work forward. This is one of the sentences that I think about often.
"Fear not of trying- try different combinations, holding your brush differently, different tools(even your fingers), different order of water to colour combinations. " give permission to yourself to stretch and don't take yourself too seriously. The read voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes. Marcel Proust.
I love this memory! There is a pilgrimage walk from Ambato to Banos, 39km. They close the major highway on the Thurs. Sabado Santo (Easter weekend). I have done the walk also, for the experience and it is rough on your body, but interesting spiritually. The year that I didn't do it, I went around and took photos, and there in the park by the church will all of the thousands of pilgrims was this lady sitting in the sunshine. Derwent water colour paper for watercolour pencils A3, Faber Castel polychromos pencils. This is one of my favourite drawings and it never bores grows old for me. I can look at it for long times and feel peace. This is the painting that started me on my "Unforgettable Faces Project". I am still looking for the owner of this face or her family, here in Banos, Tungurahua Ecuador, to give this painting to her or them as a gift and as a thank you for her special presence in my arty little life.
This sentiment really feels what she is about. Every painting I fall a little in love with the person, I can't help myself. "Whenever we give from a place of love rather than a place of expectation more usually comes back to us than we could ever have expected or imagined." (I am not sure who to attrubute this quote to.) Derwent water colour paper for water colour pencils dyed with Dr. PH Martin Bombay ink, A3, Faber Castel polychromos coloured pencils. She is done. The fear of not honouring her image and energy is gone.
As I said before for this progressive post, this is from a woman who was outside of the Basilica in Banos de Agua Santa, Tungurahua Ecuador. I love sitting outside the church and people watching. They all have their reasons to come to my little town, but all it seems come to make sure they visit the church. I am not a church person myself but I love their emotions around their faith. My biggest fear as always is if I can do another painting or will it be gone. I just hope that this painting honors this woman and her family. She has become one of my Unforgettable Faces, in my Unforgettable Faces Project. Now will be the hard part, to find her or her family and give it to them. This may take quite a while. I am planning on having an showing of these faces here in Banos in hopes to reach more people. My dream is to set up the paintings and have people come in and literally take their painting off the wall as a gift to them or their family. Then I get to share with them how much their face means to me and how beautiful that they are. Anyway, I have a few more faces to do before this can happen.... but that is my goal. This painting was created on Canson mixed media paper, liquitex gesso, galleria matte medium, allllll kinds of paper: paper from tourist guides of the area, Ecuadorian news paper, wrapping paper, my 2 drawing from my coloring book, Dr. PH Martin Hydrus watercolor paint, rotring drawing ink, Winsor and Newton watercolor markers, Letraset Aqua markers, and Unibal white gel pen, there is Sakura white pen but not very much. For those of you who are watching. The progression is continuing on this Unforgettable Face.
This is a marvellous woman who was standing by our church here in Banos de Agua Santa, Tungurahua, Ecuador. Her joy captivated me. She was joyfully watching all the goings on around the park in the front of the Basilica. She feels to me like she embodies the spirit of Banos. She is joyful, powerful, and in the moment. She is starting to come together, the fear is starting to dissipate. Love those Winsor and Newton watercolor markers. I am hoping to have her portrait a part of my Unforgettable Faces Project. I can't wait to find her to give it to her as a gift. Believe me that is the hardest part of the project, finding the owner or the families of the Unforgettable face. canson multimedia paper, homemade gesso, matte medium (Galleria), collage papers, my coloring book of bird and sun god inti, Dr. PH Martin Hydrus paint, I will be using Winsor and Newton watercolor markers Yikes, ..... this is the beginning phase. The background is mostly complete. Now I have to work on the portrait. I always start with facing my own fear that I will never be able to paint a good face again, and that I will get it completely wrong. I fear that I won't be able to give honor to the my inspirational person. That hasn't happened yet, but it is my very real fear. I don't fear the blank page, I fear not giving honor as it should be given.
