Hummingbird 2
Much about this painting was said on the page called Hummingbird 1.
This lady has another portion of her story to tell. This woman chooses many things in her life but I think she keeps her choices simple. I have seen her many times with or without shoes. At first, I thought she had no shoes, and I was going to buy her a pair. The next day when I saw her, she had shoes on. I realized when the days were warm and lovely, she went barefoot. On the days when it was not so nice, shoes on. Many of the people who came from the mountains believe that shoes are not always good for you, so they go barefoot. Bare footed-ness help you to have good health and keeps you in touch with the earth. This is true in many ways. She reminds me to keep it simple, and that you don't always have to fit the social expectation to live happily.
On the Easter Thursday walk, 37 km from Ambato to Baños de Agua Santa, in which they shut down the highway over night for the pilgrims to walk in safety, there are several older people walking barefoot. Like I have said before, these are tough, enduring, resilient people. I strive to become as strong as they are. In the meantime I will admire and respect then.
The painting was created using Derwent water colour for water colour pencils, A3, collage papers, Liquitex matte medium, Faber Castel polychromos coloured pencils, Dr PH Martin Bombay inks, rotring drawing ink, and Unibal signo white gel pen.
