Old Couple
So again, there I was in the streets snapping photos. There are many, many celebrations in Baños, Tungurahua, Ecuador. We basically celebrate everything and anything from October to April, then the rest of the year is a little bit of a rest with the occasional happy attack of fireworks and music here an there.
This day a children's parade occurred and these two people were observing the festivities. The gentleman was enjoying the moment and into it. The woman, however, was in a different head space, which I found delightful. She was just great.
Ecuadorian people do wear their culture. Here you will see people still adhering to their traditions and can be seen regularly walking and working in them. It is what makes Ecuador wonderful and diverse. There can still be humming and hawing about it with the younger people. But here even the younger people stick with their traditions. I hope that they never change.
For this painting I used Derwent water colour paper for water colour pencils, A3 Faber Castell polychromos coloured pencils.
