Smile
On a particular fresh and sunny day in Baños de Agua Santa, Tungurahua province, Ecuador, I was walking with my camera. The sun was warm and the air was fresh coming from the Amazon. Baños is also called the "Gateway" to the Amazon. The hills all around funnel the oxygenated air of the Amazon up to the city. When there is air like this, it seems to bring out the smiles and joy in all the people in the city. This woman probably was not thinking about this when she was leaving the church with her family, but thinking about how happy she was to share life with them. I think the added oxygen riches the environment and wonderful surroundings, the close lying mountain terrain, plus the lovely church to her joy.
I think that this woman really expresses the joy that you can see in the Ecuadorian life.
This painting is on A3 Derwent water colour paper for water colour pencils, A3 and Winsor and Newton water colour markers, Letraset Aqua markers, black Rotring drawing ink (fountain pen) and Unibal signo white gel pen.
