I have been living in Ecuador for 8 years plus.  During this time I have seen many wonderful things and had many new experiences.  One of the most important things that I have learned is how beautiful the Ecuadorian people are and how at all ages beauty is present.  Sometimes beauty is in the physical appearance, sometimes it is personality, sometimes it is a presence.  I am always amazed at how art enhances the nature of the subject.  I love that different mediums will also amplify that as well.
I decided I would document people and how they affected me.  I take photos of people in any and all places, then paint or draw an image of them. I carefully choose the medium for the portrait/painting for the best effect.  I usually choose either colored pencils (Faber Castel polychromos), watercolors (dr. Martins Hydrus watercolor paint), water color pencils (Derwent watercolor pencils, Derwent graphic tints), inks (dr. Martins Bombay ink), acrylic paints and mediums, collage etc.  I then I allow myself to play with the medium to find the best effect and application to suit my subject.  I give myself over to the painting to express how that person effects me and how I see them through my hands, my heart and my eyes in art.

When the portrait is complete,  I then put on my detective hat and search for the owner of the Unforgettable Face with hopes of giving the original painting back to the owner of the face or to their families.  I do this without financial reward, my reward is in the giving and the sharing.  My reward is thanking them for accepting my gift and reminding the owner of the face that they are unforgettable.  Sometimes my reward is a hand shake, a hug or a simple smile.

My travels to find the owners of the original "Unforgettable Faces" has lead me down different roads and experiences. I have met them in parks, streets and even hospitals.  I have many faces yet to find, in some cases, I might not ever be able to find them but each portrait has given me so much in understanding gratefulness, appreciation and adventure. I love following a lead and giving this art back to the people.  It is the hope that I can return the original art to them what drives me to continue on my journey.

This part of my web site is devoted to them and my experiences with them.

The original art is not available to be purchased as it is destined to find its home with their owner.  However, prints in the form of cards and A5 sized posters are available, in the near future there will also be a book available called, "Unforgettable Faces".  Funding earned from the project goes toward upgrading photography equipment, art supplies, and reproduction.

This is the general gallery section.  If you wish to find the story of my experience with a portrait click the picture or title and it will take you to the page where the story is.
