Woman and Butterfly
Walking in the streets of Baños de Agua Santa, in the province of Tungurahua, in the shadow of the volcano of Tungurahua, on Sundays can be chaos. I was at the ready with my camera amid all the activity, when in the doorway sat a place of peace or I should say a person of peace. I was immediately attracted to her presence and found she gave some of that peace to me. I took several pictures and later it was hard to chose because not one picture was not perfect. I often have to take at least 10 - 20 pictures to get one good one. But she is one of those people who is naturally photogenic.
I think I know where she lives, but as yet I have not found her or her family to give her the portrait. I will have to put on my detective hat and scour the community to find her. This is half the fun of this project. When I find the owner of the face or the family, it is always an unexpected adventure. Hopefully, this will be a memorable one.
This painting is on A3 Derwent water colour paper for water colour pencils, and Winsor and Newton water colour markers, Letra set Aqua markers, black Rotring drawing ink (fountain pen) and Unibal signo white gel pen. Collage papers, my drawing of a butterfly, Liquitex matte medium, and homemade gesso, and alcohol.
