Woman in Cowboy hat
I found this woman waiting with her group of older participants in the Christmas parade several years ago.
I love how the Ecuadorian people honor all ages and enjoy having everyone participate in public events. This parade is strenuous as the participants usually dance to very loud music for several kilometres and to do the circuit once can take several hours. I imagined this woman has seen many years and hopefully enjoyed the country life. The background that I created for this portrait has a variety of collage elements, with the horse and waiting dog. I imagined that somewhere in her past these two beings are waiting for her to join them in the fields.
This painting is created on A3 Canson multimedia paper, homemade gesso, winsor and newton watercolour markers, Dr. PH Martin Bombay ink, Galleria matte medium, collage papers, my coloring pages.
