Woman in Headdress
The women in Ecuador can be strong and determined. Life can be tough here, and a woman needs to have both feet on the ground. This woman was in a end of year/Navidad parade. She was a queen of her group's presentation. I am not sure what her group was representing but they were all people of a certain age (older than 50). The parade is a community celebration which almost everyone attends. The parade lasts at least 4 hours and the journey from start to finish for the participants lasts at least 2 hours of constant dancing in various routines. During the festivities, the music is blaring, the energy is high and people are all excited in watching and the honor of participating.
All I can say is that their feet must be sore at the end, but even so the pride they have during the entire parade is amazing and joyful.
This painting is on A3 Derwent water colour paper for water colour pencils, Dr. PH Martin Hydrus paint and Winsor and Newton water colour markers, Letraset Aqua markers, black Rotring drawing ink (fountain pen) and Unibal signo white gel pen.
